Meet our Creative Director

NOVADEI is led by its founding Creative Director, Ms. Jhoanna Gonzales Miners, who is a vocalist, writer, mentor, crafter, visual artist, entrepreneur and overall creative.

Jhoanna's journey in the creative was rooted early in childhood from her grandmothers in beading, sewing and needlework. She also grew up around woodworking and baking from her father and grandfather, as well as strategic thinking and community service from her mother, aunts and uncles. This rich heritage of the creatives has developed the foundation from which NOVADEI stands.

Prior to launching NOVADEI, Jhoanna's artwork has been exhibited in various shows and galleries in Halifax, Nova Scotia including paintings, pottery and mix media as part of the Mosaic: Identity and Community Connection Exhibit. Mosaic was showcased at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, as well at the Case Galleries at the Craig Gallery, Alderney Landing and the Humani-T Cafe Galleries. This exhibit was co-led by mixed media artist Miro Davis, and the Immigrant and Migrant Women's Association of Halifax. Upon moving to Ottawa, she has been a part of the No Borders Art Festival at the New Edinburgh Community and Arts Centre (NECTAR).
